The Purpose and Goals of the Al-Marah League

The Al-Marah League was established in 2003 by a group of breeders with the purpose of promoting the Al-Marah bloodlines and preserving as close as possible the ideals to which Mrs. Tankersley holds her breeding program. In order to accomplish this, the founding League committee members made decisions on what forms of events, advertising and communication would best fulfill the purpose and meet the needs of the members.

By developing a website and email listing of all Al-Marah breeders and owners who joined the League, connection has been established with people all over the country. Holding functions and having a booth at the Nationals creates an information exchange, new member interests and even new friendships.

The founding committee members also wanted to establish a network for marketing Al-Marah horses. The League website, member directory and a section in the quarterly Al-Marah Review gives breeders a chance to market their horses and stallions at stud.

The goals of the League are as follows:

  • Create communication between members - This enables anyone interested in Al-Marah bloodlines to find breeders, stallions at stud, and horses for sale all over the country. It also allows members to find contacts in areas they may be traveling through with their horses, needing information on places to overnight or help in times of trouble.
  • Provide marketing opportunities - By linking the League website to the main Al-Marah website and having pages in the Al-Marah Review newsletter, members have the opportunity to advertise their horses more reasonably and utilize the marketing strength of Al-Marah. Also by having a booth at Nationals, the League advertising will reach potential clients not possible otherwise.
  • Provide a forum for information and idea exchange - Meetings, e-mail, phone lists and social functions enable members to discuss new ideas, get answers to questions and generally become acquainted with other enthusiasts who are interested in preserving the best traits of the breed.
